Help Us Restore the Bass Population in the Ohio River
The Ohio River has long been home to generations of anglers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts. But in recent years, changing river conditions and habitat challenges have taken a toll on the largemouth bass population in the Ohio River and creeks that feed it.
According to studies from the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, an 8–10 inch bass caught in the fall was likely hatched that same spring. However, survival rates are low, and many bass never make it beyond the 1–2 pound range. When you combine this with spring flooding events that can severely impact spawning success, the result is significant pressure on the overall bass population.
That’s why we launched Ohio River Bass Aid — a grassroots conservation initiative dedicated to restoring and strengthening the bass population for future generations.
What We’re Doing
The Ohio River Bass Alliance, in partnership with the Indiana Bass Federation, Dixie Marine, Wieda’s Marine, Proximo Spirits, Safe Home Test Kits, Hoosier Ice House, and other local sponsors, is leading a large-scale bass stocking initiative approved by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Funds raised will be used to:
- Purchase largemouth bass fingerlings
- Restock Markland Pool Indiana creeks that flow into the Ohio River
- Improve catch rates and strengthen the ecosystem
- Support long-term fisheries management efforts
Our goal is to make this an annual restocking program, ensuring sustainability — not just a one-time boost.
Our Goal
Goal: $50,000 in total per year
Every dollar goes directly toward purchasing and releasing bass fingerlings into approved waterways. These stockings have proven successful in the past, increasing tournament catch rates and improving overall river health.

To support this mission, we are hosting the First Annual Ohio River Bass Aid Team Tournament on July 11, 2026 at Tanner’s Creek Ramp.
This tournament isn’t just about competition — it’s about conservation.
It brings together anglers, families, sponsors, and the local community to rally around one mission:
Restore. Rebuild. Revive.
